Ladies' 1sts draw with St Ives 3

Having started the week with an abundance of players we turned up to face St Ives with eleven and Jenny with the flu as sub (who was hoping to play only a small part in the game).

From push back, South blasted out and were straight on the attack with Emma chasing down a lose ball in the D which resulted in her falling over the keeper and twisting her knee. About a minute gone and Jenny was called into action (we hope that Emma recovers quickly). A little while later and a lovely passing move between Tash and Liles resulted in Liles neatly putting the ball under the keeper and going over the top of the keeper herself.

After taking the early lead South kept the pressure on, attacking down both the left and the right wings. Liles in the centre and Becca at centre back had storming games keeping St Ives at bay. But shortly before the break things broke down a little and St Ives drew level with a break away goal.

Nothing was changed at half time, and the whole team played well, battling until the very end. South had several short corners, during one of which the ball was turned in but a fraction of a second after the whistle was blown for another short.

We had numerous opportunities to score but it wasn't to be and South picked up their first points in the league this year.
