L2 0-7 March Town Ladies 2

South were full of optimism at push back after their last triumph against March. However, the team's high spirits were soon dampened. The big hitters of March hammered the ball through South's defence with two goals within the first five minutes. South kept their heads high and fought hard throughout. Although the players lost count of the score by full time it could have been a lot worse!!!

There were many fantastic saves from Sarah M as always. The defence on a whole put in an excellent game. Their perseverance was reflected in a swollen ankle, bashed knuckles and a broken finger!!! Both Pip and Tracey stayed strong on the goal line at times to clear hard shots on goal off the rebound. All of the Ladies 2's would like to thank Julie for keeping up our numbers and playing for us as well as the firsts. She provided a lot of encouragement for the defence and hit well at sixteens. Lottie and Sarah A contributed to well-structured passing through the midfield. A lot of shouting from captain Mel and Tracey kept South fighting resulting in some fantastic play in the second half. Tracey proved that keeping your stick down and running at players pays off. The interceptions created in defence resulted in counter-attacks from South with good running from Mel, Ley, and AI. As March tired and made mistakes, south were awarded a handful of short corners and energetic movement from Lyn, Louise and Mel around the D resulted in a few shots at goal. Unfortunately, the match wasn't quite long enough and no goals were scored by South.
