Men's 3rds draw with Wisbech

Good game, Fair result. Could have been 4 - 4, or 2 - 4, or 4 - 2. Lots of generally trivial, but painful injuries, caused by slippery Leys pitch and "over-enthusiasm".

First half:

  • 1 - 0 Tom South (solo effort / mazy run / fooled the keeper / brilliant).
  • 1 - 1 (Short corner. Our GK never saw it).
  • Lots of chances.
  • CSouth playing well.
  • Stu Creed down the right making things happen.
  • Everyone playing as a team.

Second half:

  • 2 -1 Jonny Deacon (ball upfield to Paul South, through pass to unmarked JD. Made it look easy).
  • 2 - 2 (Wisbech pressure finally told with turn and shot through melee).

  • Damn

Throughout the game the defence were secure - JB leading from the back with decisive tackles, thumping clearances and 16 yd hits. Midfield and attack passing and moving...until legs grew weary, and then carried on passing and moving...except the ball started to go to opposition playmaker a bit too often. When CSouth did get keep the ball , we created chances, with penetrating crosses (skipper Greaves banged a good few across, which were narrowly missed), pleasing cut backs, and some unlucky deflections and near misses from efforts from the South duo, and Dom Nelson

Nevertheless an encouraging performance with many enforced team changes. We need to keep taking points from that group of mid table teams in 5NW to ensure safety. We are well capable of doing so.

Almost faultless at right back.
