Men's 3rds beat St Neots

A dominant performance, not fully reflected in the scoreline, saw CSouth do the double over St Neots, with Sniffer Greaves grabbing the only goal with another 6 foot special.

The teams couldnt be separated in the first half, as the St Neots goal survived numerous chances, the best one saved by...Paul South...with his leg, lying on the goal line. He claims he was trying to get up at the time. The away side did have some moments, but the CSouth defence of CreedEvansKern, with keeper Chris Collinson increasingly confident behind them, stood firm. St Neots hardly got a shot in, even on their few short corners, all of which were dealt with well.

More of the same after half time, until the deadlock was broken, with John Greaves calmly sliding the ball into goal after a short corner scramble. This could have opened the floodgates. John Parker could have had a hatrick; Stu Creed, Jonny Deacon and Paul South had chances, but sadly none went in. It was nonetheless great to see some fine passing moves using the width of the pitch involving different midfield/forward combinations, stirring runs , particularly up the right by Creed, some pinging crosses from Greaves, and the usual wholehearted action-man display from Dom Nelson; DijkstraParkerPatel was lively on the wing, and Jim Thorpe kept turning defence into attack from his position in front of the back 3.

A win is a win, and the Corner House did us proud once again afterwards.
