Men's 3rds lose to a good Nomads side

Nomads deserved the 5 goals they got as they were the more skillful, fitter team, with many players used to playing at a rather higher level. However CSouth never gave up, and produced a number of fine passing moves which were unlucky not to be rewarded. Rupert Espley, Dom Nelson, and Paul South figured in many such moves. The wings, particularly John Parker and Jake Davis found space and used it well, and John Benedikz, released to maraud up front in the second half, showed the direct way to attack.

The middle period of the game was CSouths worst as unfamiliar players found it hard to gel, and too often reverted to chasing the ball around, but the home team did have their chances to score, and numerous short corners went begging. At the other end the defence were manful, with Creed, Simon Jelley and James Lee in the thick of things, and Shabhaz made his usual quota of point blank saves.

Ah well. It is anticipated that the Nomads team to be faced in 5NW will be a somewhat different proposition.

Not forgetting that the Corner House once again did us proud with Jo the cook producing another fine spread.

Effective in midfield and defence. Often the last man. and rarely beaten for the ball.
