Men's 4ths draw with Ipswich

The game started with Ron volunteering as a kicking back and South largely dominating possession without being able to have a clean strike on goal or the Ipswich keeper was not equal to. There was little at the back for Ron to do. South eventually scored via James Raikes just before half time. A totally dominant first half with only 1 goal to show for.

HT : 1-0

With such dominance, South played with 11 outfield players. Well, it was only a friendly..... but the team somehow read that as 'let's play with 11 attacking players'. No tracking back, nothing. This is not even like Wednesday night knock about, it was like a bunch of 6-year-olds in a park who all wanted to be Sean Kerly (for those of you old enough to remember). This resulted in the Ipswich centre forward having an empty goal to shoot at, but he somehow missed and South went up the other end, where Rob Barton predictably hit a reverse stick shot and, as it went wide of the far post, James Bridge was there to tap it in. 2-0. Had South learnt a lesson? Of course not. More attacks from Ipswich now and there was little defending that they eventually made it 2:1. Ipswich completed the fight back by winning a shot corner right on the final whistle which they managed to score from. It will have put a smile on their faces driving back on the A14. Whatever those coaches are doing on a Thursday night, I am sure they haven't got a let's all attack with 11 players in their repertoire.

It was a fun game.
