Indoor team win the Cambridgeshire League Final

A frenetic game of hockey was a fitting end to a fine season, in which Cambridge South won both pool stages prior to the title decider. Steve Parker was on fine form in the South goal pulling of a string of fantastic saves, frequently smothering shots. Both sides fought hard and tempers were directed more towards the umpires than the opposition at times. Perse were very strong at set pieces and South did not capitalise when they had short corners themselves. An early goal from a well-positioned Paul South set the ball rolling and by half-time 3-3 was perhaps slightly reflective of the game in that South looked confident in possession but did give away the momentum by over-attacking.

The second half saw a more defensive period of play by South, creating a more tentative feel. South lost the initiative, falling behind for the first time in the game midway through the half as a penalty corner flew past the face of Rich Morgan on the line. Nonetheless, the determination of Dan Cross and Adam Miller set up a platform for South to charge back and seal the win with a quick break from some scrappy play in the midfield as Duncan Graves and Hugo Christie paired up for the winner.

The club wishes to express thanks to The Perse School for hosting the league, which has been recognised as the Cambridgeshire League for this season.
