Gone South

Dan Talmage

M6 match report

South came into the match in a high from last week's victory over Ely 3, having beaten a good side.  Andy decided to capitalise on this with an encouraging all-team warm-up and six-on-six before the push-back against St Neots. Alas, having failed to show himself for the warm-up, he earned LoM before the match had even started, thus also neatly simplifying the post-match admin.

South started the match fast, with the early energy paying off, carrying the game to Saints. Sadly it didn't last, with three quick shorts against us, one of which was put home with a neat drag flick. We went into half-time a goal down and keen to turn it around in the second half.

Momentum slipped again after the change of ends, despite sterling performances on the pitch, leading Baz to get his MoM award from midfield, partly due to how often his shins were used as target practice by the oppo. South couldn't prevent the run of shorts, though, conceding a second from another drag flick, and then a third goal-mouth scramble turned in to our own net. Some powerful final attacks from South couldn't penetrate to goal, and we finished without scoring.

Despite this, we felt like awarding LoM to the Game Match System, since when Andy tried to report a 3-0 loss, GMS asked us for the three South goalscorers. Tempting. But we suspected Saints would notice. Onward to Nomads 4 after the international break next week.
