Sights from the sideline

Adam Catley

When I arrived at the pitch, 15 minutes late after my satnav decided it wanted to go on an adventure, almost all the drama had already passed me by.

I'd missed:

  • The invite from Jimbo to Disneyland.
  • Ali losing his car keys inside his own car.
  • St Neots scoring first after a quick counter.
  • Eric evening up the scoreline with a short corner deflection.
  • A St Neots player catching an unlucky follow through taking them down to 11 men.

Captain for the day, Seb led the team through a mini team talk while the St Neots medics dealt with their player. He must have been inspirational as within a minute of play restarting South regained possession, drove into the D and won a Short. The first strike went straight into the keepers pads but Eric was there to capitalise on the defection and out of place defenders. Calmly receiving the ball then, on the reverse, lifting the ball over the diving keeper, into the back of the net. For this Eric won man of the match.

Lom was shared between Jack and Ali. Ali for almost taking Ed’s head off with a golf swinging clearance. Jack’s for blooding the pitch in true Halloween style.

Eric "the deflector" Wong, for scoring 2 top goals and general good game management.

Ali Hart
Lemon of the Match

Lost keys, custom number plate, gassing the subs bench, and a very poor aerial.

First to draw blood... pity its a hockey match not a duel.
