Ladies' 1sts draw with Bury St Edmunds Ladies 2

The ladies 1s Official Match Report Author is still recovering from a summer spent traveling (and possibly doing a small amount of work) in Africa. She has assured me that she will return next week to write witty, amusing reports for your entertainment.

This weekend provided a great start to the season, with two ladies teams (plus subs!) in action on Saturday. The ladies looked surprisingly fresh considering the pre-season bbq only finished 5 hours before the first meet.

There were impressive debut performances from Diane (voted MoM for her stirling defensive efforts) and Elaine (denied a great goal by an annoyingly agile Bury GK). Emma also had a great 3 minutes on the pitch, but her cameo was rather short-lived due to a pulled muscle which she assures us is the result of heavy lifting while moving house, and nothing at all to do with pulling some poses while raiding Caths fancy dress box at the aforementioned barbecue....

The two goals came from some silky passing up the pitch by the midfield before being slotted in to the goal by Alice, with a third being denied for dubious reasons.

I can't really remember how we conceded two goals, but lets just say they were two awesome shots that we had no chance of defending.

Important things to note:

1) There is an excellent coffee shop along the road from Culford School

2) The match teas (orange squash on the side of the pitch) were slightly disappointing

3) Cath has put the 1s captain to shame by providing bacon rolls for breakfast and post-match cake for her whole team.
