Men's 1sts lose to Cambridge Nomads 2

Cambridge South let themselves down again in evenly matched local derby against Cambridge Nomads. South had the best of the first half and were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty flick when Alex Pooles, clear on goal, was bought down by the beaten keeper. South eventually went ahead after fifteen minutes when Alex Pooles finished neatly when a ball went loose in the Nomads D. Several other chances went begging and it was South that led into the break.

In the second half Nomads came out fighting and a scramble in the South D ended badly as a defender fell in front of goal and the ball fell to a Nomads player, who dribbled it into the fallen defender with the Umpire awarding a flick, much to South's surprise. Keeper Lino Di Lorenzo was expecting a quality flick to his left but got a weak one to his right. 1-1 and South were on the back foot.

The final blow came when a dubious short corner was finished smartly to give Nomads the lead. Another winnable game went the wrong way for the luckless Cambridge South who will surely be looking for stronger leadership next season.
