Men's 2nds lose to Wisbech Town 4

Four goals in arrears after twenty-five minutes was not a good start. The first was unlucky, but the rest were down to sharp young attackers not being picked up. Four shots, four goals.

Cambridge South again took a while to get going.

The second half was much better. Cambridge South dominated much of the half, stepping up the pace and winning tackles, and had lots of chances. Unfortunately the Wisbech keeper played a blinder, and saved numerous times from Greaves, Barton and Lewis until finally Rob Barton grabbed a consolation goal with a long range blast. Our short corners worked well and there was good movement out of defence (thank you Tim Clapp, Tim Waller and Gareth Hebbron), with many more crosses and dangerous balls into the D than in previous weeks.

Wisbech rubbed salt into the wound with a terrific breakaway goal near the end.

South 2nds will have to learn to play for seventy minutes and take their chances in order to make the progress in 5NW that today's second half performance deserved.
