Men's 1sts lose to Cambridge City 4

In a local derby match Cambridge South, proudly sponsored by PwC, were edged out by a well-organised Cambridge City team. The home side are looking good for promotion this year but after last week's victory over Cambridge Nomads, South were hopeful of getting something from the game.

South started brightly and caused problems for the City defence with some swift passing and energetic running. Despite a period of sustained pressure, however, no-one was able to score and Cambridge City slowly came into the game, finishing the half the stronger.

Early in the second half the breakthrough was made as the home side scored from a well-worked short corner routine. The lead was shortlived, however, as South hit back through in-form Lukas Snetler, who lifted the ball home over the prone keeper after good work by Rob Garrett. Cambridge City retook the lead with an almost carbon-copy of the first goal with 20 minutes to go. South worked hard to find an equaliser but were ultimately unable to breach the City backline.
