Men's 1sts lose to City of Peterborough 4

Cambridge South, proudly sponsored by PwC, succumbed to their first home defeat of the season against City of Peterborough on Saturday.

Cambridge went into the game looking to cement their position in the top 4 of the table against a team 3 points below them but never managed to find their rhythm. The fast, fluid counter-attacking hockey that we have come to expect from this side was absent for the majority of the game. Peterborough enjoyed more of the possession and scored mid way through the first half, and Cambridge South promptly equalised a minute later.

Although the away side managed to force a succession of short corners they were unable to find a breakthrough and a slightly subdued match was looking like ending in a draw until Peterborough managed to sneak a winner with only 2 minutes remaining.

Cambridge now drop to 5th in the table and will look to bounce back against relegation threatened Cambridge Nomads Thirds next week
