Ladies' 2nds thrash Rutland 1

Saturday proved to be a game to boost team morale for Cambridge South Seconds, sponsored by PwC, with a convincing 13-0 win over Rutland. This week we worked much more effectively together as a team using the techniques suggested by the captain and our more experienced players. As we were in control of the game we managed to make use of the short square passes and passes to players out on the wings.

Our strong defence, of Jodee, Becca, and Vicky weren’t tested too much during the match, and efficiently cleared the ball when they had to, back to the mid-field. Nearly everyone got on the score-sheet (Except Lou who had a fairly quiet match really), thanks to the strength of passing from our midfield players, all of whom scored, as well as supplying the forwards with a constant supply of shots on goal.

At half time the score was 7-0 and the second half saw more of the same with another six goals. It has to be said that Rutland’s goalkeeper had no kit so for most of the match she played as a sort-of second sweeper but the win cannot be taken away from us as we (mostly) played carefully around the goal to prevent any injury!

Overall the match importantly boosted team morale and has really helped us gel as a team. Hopefully this has given us confidence for the rest of the season and we can carry on the good work!
