Ladies' 2nds narrowly beat Royston 3

Persistent attacking and strong teamwork throughout this friendly finally won the game for South with a goal late in the second half. After a few weeks playing together, the ladies seconds are continuing to gel as a team, with improved passing and communication between all players.

South were the stronger team, with most of the play in the opposition’s half. Royston’s best player was their keeper, and despite hard work and determination, South could not beat her and the game remained goalless at half time.

When Royston did venture into our half, South defended solidly. Jodee and Anne-Isabelle were combining well on the left to get the ball upfield again.

A well-deserved goal finally came for South late in the second half from Bex. After a bit of a scramble in which the ball hit a couple of defenders feet, then came off Mel’s foot, all without the umpires noticing, and finally to Bex to finish.
