L1s Could Have Put Kiwi Teamwork to Shame!

Polly Thompson

Lou C’s determination to have several hours to pre-drink for the rugby resulted in an early start this week. Although Diane was worried we wouldn’t be able to field a team, we made it to Oundle with a full XI (and almost a national league sub... fingers crossed for next week!)

The match started fairly evenly, but South quickly began to dominate. We seemed to have the ball in Oundle's D most of the time but a goal remained elusive. The frustration was getting to Georgie Hurford, who earned her half of the Siamese lemon onesie with a particularly loud and offensive word in front of the large crowd of mostly children. Sophie finally got the ball in the back of the net after some excellent passing by the whole team- in Lou C’s words, "The best team performance yet."

The half time tactical chat using leaves clearly worked, as Bex and Jo got a goal each in the second half. Jo would have got another if Bex hadn’t kicked it into the goal, earning the other half of the onesie. Georgie also won ‘Man of the Match’ for her great distribution from the middle. In her words "I’m like Forrest Gump, I just keep on running." A great team performance all round!
