Men's 2nds beat Market Deeping 2

In a game more even than the scoreline indicates, mainly due to superb goalkeeping by Man of the Match Tim Poole, CSHC 2nds managed to maintain their commitment and fitness to bag a handful of goals. Skipper Greaves contrived to miss much of the game by twisting ankle ligaments early on but with sufficient substitutes, ably marshalled by Mick Beasley, the goals flowed. Matt Murray got a brace both from short range, the first from Dan Adlington's cross, and the second from a decisive Lewis pass into the D.

Fifteen minutes of intense pressure from Market Deeping followed but the defence stood firm and Poole kept them out with at least a dozen point blank saves. There was much relief in the home camp when Murray found Dan Adlington on the right, who dribbled down the line (ugh !) and put in a great cross from the corner for Jim Lockhart to slot the ball in at the far post.

After half time Market Deeping continued to attack and scored from a penalty flick after Poole floored one of their men. The home team battled back and scored their fourth in a breakeaway, as Creed put in a mesmerising dribble and shot whilst colleagues Lewis and Lockhart drew the defence away. After that there was only going to be one winning team, and Korstanje wrapped up matters with a clinical rifled shot straight from a short corner.

A sweet victory and an encouraging start in 5NW by newly promoted CSHC 2nds.
