Men's 2nds lose to Market Deeping 2

A modified CSHC 2nd team arrived at league leaders Deeping with high hopes but were undone by a combination of good opponents, strict umpiring, and two disallowed goals. The post match pub and meal was good though.

Deeping snatched the lead when a shot bounced back luckily to the forward concerned to give goalkeeper Tim Poole no chance. The second goal soon after half-time was a result of an overdose of attackers in the CSHC D, which even the magnificent Rob Garrett at sweeper was unable to repel.

After that the away team tried manfully to get back into the game and even had two goals disallowed, the first from Dan Adlington, anxious to retain his mantle of CSHC Goal King, with a purposeful solo run and shot. The second came from a well worked Greaves-Lewis short corner routine, with John Greaves finding the net from close range. Sadly Deeping then got a third, with a speculative effort which ran straight through from outside the D with barely a touch.

CSHC did manage a consolation goal form Matt Murray, whose skill and persistance was rewarded with a trademark mazy run and shot over the befuddled Deeping keeper.

Overall the game was a good end to end tussle throughout, with much good passing hockey and positive play. CSHC never gave up the fight and looked at least the equal of the division's top team.
