Men's 2nds can't live with Peterborough Athletic 3

They got a goal thirty seconds from the start (and we had push back !).

They got two more before half time; all were "silly" goals, but as a result South's confidence was fragile.

Luckily, as usual, we never gave up.

Nick Wong was brilliant, and unlucky to narrowly miss the target after a spectacular one touch move from the back.

Mark Freer was his reassuring rock-like (his hockey, not his physique) self.

Korstanje returned to the fold for the first time to anchor our team, but chances were few.

Peterboro got two more in the second half, including an excellent defence-splitting triangle move for the best goal of the game.

John Greaves got his usual close range goal for a consolation late on, after the terrier-like Stuart Creed wriggled free of the defence to cross to him.

We did have many other good moves and crosses, but insufficient numbers in the D and were also unlucky with short corners, although all were well worked. Again the team played well, but ultimately…

…they were too good for us.

For never giving up; running tirelessly; and attracting the ball like a magnet.
