Men's 2nds lose to Peterborough Town 4

Peterborough had lots of young, fit players and some wise older ones, and put the home side under pressure for most of the game. Cambridge South had breakaway opportunities and indeed scored from one such, which was a fine individual effort by the ever-lively Nick Wong. Other chances were spurned.

Peterborough had many short corners, all of which were repelled by a stout defence with keeper Jon Bartram on dominant form, and Messrs Lane, Bleach, Brynjolffssen, and Ho all busy but never buckling. South breaks were frequent and used the wings well, but too few shots resulted and Peterborough were all too often able to reclaim the ball.

After half time Peterborough continued to press forward and snatched an equaliser, mainly due to sheer weight of attacking options and persistance. Bartram had an unfortunate penalty awarded against him, but he was able to save it confidently. Unfortunately, Peterborough got what proved to be the winner soon after, and continued efforts of a tiring South side to snatch a draw were in vain as the final pass into the D proved elusive.
