Men's 2nds lose to league-topping Peterborough Town 4

Unbeaten league leaders Peterborough dominated this rearranged game with a lesson in control, positioning and passing.

Cambridge South plugged away manfully throughout and never gave up trying to play hockey. The trouble was, Peterborough succeeded, scoring three without reply in the first half. It could have been more but for some desperate defending, illustrated by Jan Brynjolffssen's spectacular stop above his head on the goalline.

South did get a consolation goal through Suk Pannu's dogged determination in midfield, dribbling into the D, shrugging off two tackles and winning a short corner. The Greaves-Lewis routine came up trumps again as Andy Lewis's shot off skipper John Greaves' corner came back to Greaves who was able to apply a firm but cultured nudge to the ball a foot or so off the ground from at least six feet out at a narrow angle.

Unfortunately Peterborough got four more goals in the second half to run out deserved winners.
