Ladies' 2nds beat Rutland 1

Cambridge South Ladies seconds, sponsored by PwC, were at home this week against Rutland and determined not to let the previous 13-0 victory against them go to their heads. However, when it became apparent that Rutland only had 10 players, it did not take rocket science to predict the likely outcome!

The game started well, with South spending a lot of time in Rutland's half. Good passing between Cat, Jodee, Anne-Isabelle, Daisy and Mel kept the ball moving and ensured possession. A goal was soon scored by player of the match Jodee, hitting the ball firmly past the keeper.

Rutland upped their game and defended well, but South were prepared to battle - the second goal was a result of a scuffle in the D, ending when Chloe drove the ball over the line.

Half time saw some position changes for South and Rutland continued their efforts to attack. They made several breaks but South should have been reassured that with 10 players, Rutland couldn't score for toffee.

Mel scored the third and final goal and despite some rough and tumble tackles, the game finished with a well-deserved win.
