Men's 3rds lose to Rutland 2

This was an excellent display of swift attacking hockey, intelligent positioning and passing and tigerish tackling, rewarded by two well worked goals either side of half time.

Unfortunately Cambridge South 3rds, sponsored by PwC, were on the receiving end of all this.

The reshaped home team had their moments with Andy Lewis, John Greaves, James Raikes and Wilco Dijkstra all unlucky not to score. Everyone tried hard and played as well as the opposition allowed, from the hard working defence, through to the midfield who worked the ball upfield well, to the lively attack.

But it was not enough to overcome the skilful, fit, and able Rutland team.

CSouth 3rds remain top of 6NW, with games against teams from the lower half coming up, which should help confirm them in a promotion spot, with a chance of taking the league title.

Once again dominant in goal. Blameless for the goals conceded.
